Photosynthesis
Photosynthesis is the process plants use to convert sunlight into chemical energy. Chlorophyll in a plant's leaves absorbs light and uses it to combine carbon dioxide and water into glucose, releasing oxygen as a byproduct. This glucose fuels the plant's growth and is the ultimate energy source for nearly every food chain on Earth.
